Sultans

I’ve been ripping a lot more of my music collection these past couple of days, and I was looking through my Dire Straits stuff last night with a view to creating a playlist of my very favourite stuff. I reflected, for perhaps the thousandth time, that you can really never have too many versions of Sultans of Swing or Tunnel of Love, so I thought I’d appeal to you lot to see if you’ve got any versions I don’t already have.

Below you can find links to screenshots for iTunes showing all my versions of Sultans and Tunnel respectively. All are MP3s; the bitrates, filesizes, track lengths, and the artist and album ID3 tag contents are shown in the images.

If you have other versions of these songs lying around, get in touch with me (matt.gemmell at gmail) and we’ll sort something out. Be sure to check the track lengths particularly to make sure your version isn’t already listed here. Bootlegs are most welcome. Live performances from radio shows are also good.

Generally speaking, I’m not interested in obtaining higher-bitrate copies of versions I already own, unless said versions are not from released albums. If it’s rare or a bootleg and you have a higher bitrate version, fire away. I’m also interested in different masterings of the same versions, up to a point (though note I already have 3 of the studio version of Sultans). I’m skeptical about covers or tributes (though by all means tell me about them), and I don’t want any MIDIs or that kind of thing.

MP3s preferred, though AIFFs, AACs, WMAs and so on I can also live with. Torrent links are acceptable, but not preferred. Assertions that you found several new versions on (insert name of filesharing network here) are of marginal use, unless you actually downloaded the files when you found them.

Many thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a look through their music on my behalf, and a pre-emptive happy new year to everyone!
