We now have more bandwidth! That’s good, because I’ve exceeded my paltry 2Gb/month for the past two months, mostly due to Apple linking to iCal Birthday Shifter.
Scotland Software is hosted by Simply.com, here in the UK. I bought the Enterprise hosting package last October, which at that time included 100Mb disk space and 2Gb/month traffic. Just recently (this week, I think), Simply updated their hosting packages, and they were good enough to automatically upgrade mine to the newer spec, now giving me 500Mb disk space and 10Gb/month traffic (nice little surprise, I must say). The Enterprise package includes the following stuff (just listing the main points; of course there’s more).
• 500 Mb space
• 10 Gb data transfer/month
• Hosted on Linux (Compaq servers)
• SSIs
• cgi-bin
• Perl
• PHP4
• FrontPage 2002 Extensions
• MySQL + 1 db
• Webmail pre-configured (using IMP)
• Custom error docs
• Web control panel for just about everything
• Webalizer pre-configured for graphical stats
• .htaccess for protecting dirs
• Web users (/~user)
• 50 POP accounts
• 50 FTP accounts (with unlimited FTP access)
• Unlimited mailing groups
• Unlimited email forwarding addresses
• Unlimited auto-responders
• Catch-all email forwarding
It all costs £8.99 per month (£108/year), which is extremely reasonable IMHO. They also do plenty of smaller (and larger) plans; everything from email-only (silly) right up to unlimited reseller accounts. If you’re looking for hosting in the UK, you should give them a try.
